The goal of the Ohio River Bridges DBE Program is to leverage opportunities and maximize participation to the extent permitted by law for the following distinct groups:
- Disadvantaged Business Enterprises –Those businesses that have been certified by the KYTC in accordance with the requirements of the Federal Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program regulations found in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Subpart 26;
- Minority Businesses –– Those businesses that are at least 51 percent owned or controlled by the socially disadvantaged individuals included in 49 C.F.R. 26.67(a). Included are citizens of the United States (or lawfully admitted permanent residents), women, Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, Subcontinent Asian Americans or other minorities;
- Women-Owned Businesses – Those businesses that are at least 51 percent owned by a female; and
- Small Business Enterprises – Those businesses that are certified by the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) pursuant to 13 CFR Part 121.
While this program will offer outreach through networking, education and training opportunities for members of these groups, all outreach initiatives will be open to anyone with an interest in working on the Ohio River Bridges Project. As a federally mandated program, the KY DBE Program will be administered and monitored separately from programs targeted at small, minority- and women-owned businesses that are not certified as KY DBEs. |
